Wheatland Elementary School Bulletin for Sunday, January 21, 2018

ATTENDANCE: If your child will not be attending school for any reason, please contact the school at 673-4365 by 8:00 am that day. Thank you!


BOXTOPS AND POPTABS: WES has been collecting Box Tops and poptabs. The Box Tops are collected to receive money for our school with each one worth 10 cents! The pop tabs are collected and then delivered to Ronald McDonald Houses to help pay for expenses for their foundation. Thank you for everyone who has already contributed! We appreciate each and every one! If you have any, please send them to school with your student, or you are more than welcome to bring them to the school!


4-H AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: The 4-H After School Program will begin next week! It is for 4-H and Non 4-H students Kindergarten through 6th grade and will be held in the Wheatland Elementary cafeteria. It will be from 3:35 P.M. to 5 P.M. on Jan. 17, 31, then Feb. 7, 21, 28, and March 7 and 14. If you still haven’t turned in your registration form, please send it to school on Tues. Jan. 16th with your payment. We hope to see you there!


KANSAS DAY FIELD TRIP: Monday, Jan. 29th, Kindergarten through 4th grade students and teachers will be traveling to Oakley for a Kansas Day Field Trip. Because of the schedule in Oakley, students will be leaving before school starts. THE BUS WILL BE LEAVING WHEATLAND ELEMENTARY AT 7:40 A.M!! NO BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED ON THIS DAY FOR K-4TH STUDENTS. Please have your child/ren at school before 7:40. They will return before lunch, so you do not need to pack a lunch for them. Please remember coats, as they will be in and out throughout the morning!


GOVE COUNTY SPELLING BEE: The Annual Gove County Spelling Bee will be held in Quinter this year on Jan. 24th, beginning at 12:30. It will be held in the Quinter High School Auditorium. If your child is selected to participate in the County Spelling Bee, a letter was sent home with them. The alternate date for inclement weather will be Jan. 31st at the same time. Good luck to all the spellers!


GCDC DONATION: Thank you to GCDC for your donation towards Wheatland semester milk fees! Notices were sent home earlier this week for 2nd semester milk. If you have any questions, please contact Christy at 785-673-4365 or wesoffice@thunderhawks.org.


KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FREE THROW CONTEST: Sunday, Jan. 21st, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting the annual Free Throw Contest at Wheatland High School. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the contest will start at 1:00 p.m. Boys and girls ages 9-14 can participate. Contact Roger Schuster for more information.


SINGING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: Friday, Jan. 26th, the Wheatland Elementary students will be singing the National Anthem during the Wheatland High School basketball game. This is Kindergarten through 4th grade. Please bring your child to the stage at 5:45. They will need to wear their blue Thunderhawk shirt. If they do not have one, please dress them in a blue t-shirt.

Please remember coats, as they will be in and out throughout the morning!


NOTES: If your child is doing something after school than their regular schedule, please send a note with your child, or call 673-4365 or email wesoffice@thunderhawks.org. There are a few after school activities coming up that are not school related, but we are not able to let them go unless we have permission from the parents. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!


THUNDERHAWK JUNIOR CHEER PERFORMANCE: Friday, Jan. 26th, the Thunderhawk Junior Cheerleaders will perform during halftime of the Varsity Boys Basketball game. Come out and cheer them on!


LOST COAT: A black coat with grey trim has been found at the High School. It was left there before Christmas break. It is a boy’s coat, size Small (4). If it is your child’s coat, please call Christy at 673-4365 to claim!
